Will I need planning permission?
In most cases, you will not need planning permission for an Orb office
in your garden. In planning law, an Orb is fundamentally a sectional building
- one that is not designed to be a permanent fixture in your garden.
Although you are unlikely to require planning permission for your Orb, you will
need to seek planning permission if a) you live in a conservation area; b) you
wish to locate your Orb within 5 metres of your home; or c) you seek to locate
your Orb between the home and the highway.
Being below 3m in height, the Orb range has been designed to be within the ODPM
(Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) guidelines.
Will I need a concrete base?
The Orb garden office is designed for simplicity. Therefore, we supply every
Orb garden office with its own hard-core footings (under each foot). The Orb
simply needs to sit on a sound and level surface and we will do the rest.
How is an Orb installed?
We can install the Orb garden office with the minimum of fuss. As long as there
is a firm, level surface in your garden, there will be no need for excavation
or foundations.
What about the electrics?
Every Orb comes complete with integral electrics including a fuse box and six
double sockets, plus integral lighting. Electral and other services can run
from your house.
How secure is an Orb?
The Orb garden office has been developed to ensure excellent security
standards, with walls that are 40mm thick and constructed from a unique
sandwich of GRP materials - making it as strong as a boat! All windows and
doors are toughened double-glazed. All locks conform to BS 3621 to ensure
compliance with most insurance companies' requirements.
Does the Orb come with a warranty?
All Orbs are designed and will be manufactured with a 50-year life expectancy,
and will be backed up by a peace of mind 5-year structural warranty, dependant
on usage and manufacturer's guidlines, which covers the floors, walls and roof
of your Orb.
